Chap Bernet

Chap Bernet graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas May, 2009, and has finished his freshman year at the University of Alabama, where he pledged Kappa Sig and enjoyed a successful, productive school year, studying Journalism.  While at HPHS, he was an offensive tackle on the football team, became an Eagle Scout and sang with the Lads & Lassies, the award-winning choral group.

His Dad, Brant, taught him a few chords on the guitar when he was 10 years old...and from that time on, his great passion has been singing, writing songs and playing guitar.  He taught himself the "finger-picking" style of playing guitar.  He attracted attention when he was a small boy by being able to tell his family what note was being played on the piano from across the room.  He likes to listen to...and has emulated...Jack Johnson, G. Love & Special Sauce, Matt Costa and a number of others.

He started seriously writing songs when he was about fourteen. For a while he only wanted to write songs that would make people laugh...then he started to write songs about girls and friendships and parents.  His sense of humor still shines through in some of his songs.  He has that God-given gift of being able to take the listener to a place in his/her past, to conjure up memories of good times...they're thought-provoking and beyond his years.

Chap has enjoyed great, early success as an entertainer around Dallas during the last couple of years of high school, playing at sporting events, private parties and other kinds of special events.  His first CD is available by contacting:
